Abstract:

With the creation of several startups in numerous industries over the past few decades, India's entrepreneurial landscape has seen a substantial transition. India can continue to promote innovation, generate jobs, and strengthen its position as a worldwide hub for entrepreneurship by comprehending the difficulties, making the most of the opportunities, and appreciating the economic impact of startups. This research report examines the entrepreneurial mindset and skill development programs at higher educational institutions (HEIs), highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive strategy to cultivate entrepreneurial talent early on. Data was collected by surveying 130 students from 14 different colleges of The University of Delhi to explore college students' attitudes towards entrepreneurship and the effectiveness of information dissemination regarding Udhmodya, an entrepreneurship ecosystem initiative at the University of Delhi. The objectives include studying the dynamics of entrepreneurship perception and willingness, assessing the University and College Websites as information sources, examining awareness of Udhmodya Initiatives among students, and creating awareness about these initiatives. The study also evaluates the University's efforts to support entrepreneurship under the New Education Policy and emphasizes the importance of enhancing effectiveness of the information dissemination. While students show willingness to start their businesses, there is a gap in their awareness of available university schemes. The study suggests improving the university website as a primary information source. It also acknowledges the potential for future research to explore other startup-related programs, contributing to the development of a thriving startup culture within the University of Delhi.
