Determining and validating latent aspects of job embeddedness among academicians in India

Abstract:

The study investigates the vital dimensions that embed an academician to his current institution or organization for long run. It focuses on the specific areas that are crucial for career advancement of an academician in India in terms of academic and research orientation as well as industrial consultation. Data were collected from 646 academicians working in higher educational institutions in India with the help of an adapted questionnaire from the previous literature. PLS 4 and SPSS Ver. 22 were used to validate the psychometric properties of the scale. The study bi-furcates the community specific dimensions and organization specific dimensions clearly. This work supplements current studies in the field of job embeddedness and uniquely reveals the specific facets of job embeddedness considering the nature of work of an academician in higher educational institutions in India.
