Abstract:

This study explores how the nascent minds of students can be trained to recognize and harness their own potential through counselling. Counseling, while seemingly simple, is a complex and deeply interactive process where individuals discuss their thoughts, emotions, and challenges. The counsellor-client relationship operates on multiple levels, including emotional, psychological, and cognitive aspects, fostering trust and personal growth. The research focuses on the importance of counselling and guidance, its scope, challenges, and the ways different types of counselling can contribute to the development of students, job seekers, and families. The study is based on an extensive review of articles, research papers, newspapers, and online resources, offering a comprehensive analysis of both the challenges and benefits of counselling in educational institutions and broader society across India. In today's globalized world, students have unprecedented exposure and a wide range of career options, leading to increased doubts and confusion. In India, parental expectations and societal pressures often contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, and even extreme cases like suicides among students. This research provides evidence-based conclusions on the critical role of counselling in addressing these challenges, supporting mental well-being, and fostering a healthier society.
