Abstract:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a pivotal driver of digital transformation across enterprise systems, reshaping how organizations operate, compete, and innovate. Over the last five years, the adoption of AI has accelerated significantly across key domains including supply chain management (SCM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), business process management (BPM), and strategic decision-making. AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, and generative AI are increasingly embedded in 37enterprise workflows, enabling enhanced operational efficiency, data-driven insights, and proactive decision-making. This review synthesizes the most recent literature (2020-2025) to provide a comprehensive understanding of AI applications, technological enablers, organizational impacts, integration strategies, and associated challenges such as ethical considerations, system interoperability, and human-AI collaboration. Furthermore, a conceptual framework for AI-enabled enterprise systems is proposed, highlighting the interplay between data infrastructure, analytical intelligence, and business integration. Finally, the paper outlines a future research agenda aimed at guiding both scholars and practitioners in leveraging AI to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, improved productivity, and enhanced strategic agility.
