Abstract:

How has sustainability reporting research evolved and where should it head next? This study uses systematic literature review and incorporates bibliometrics to explore these issues. After first retrieving 1,330 documents from the Scopus database and refining them using the PRISMA framework, 40 high-quality studies were examined using the Theory-Context-Characteristics-Methodology (TCCM) framework. The integrated approach charts the development, conceptual framework, and methodological trends of research on sustainability reporting. The review highlights important gaps that impede conceptual and empirical growth by identifying prevalent theoretical viewpoints, recurrent contextual contexts, and developing analytical techniques. This paper provides an organized picture of how sustainability reporting has evolved and where future research should concentrate by combining ideas from earlier studies. In the end, it helps direct academics and professionals toward developing a more exacting, inclusive, and progressive research agenda in sustainability reporting.
